Where should keywords be used?

  • Content

Ensure that your content is updated on a regular basis. Use but do not over use keywords. Make sure that your content is written based on the website being the shop window for your company and any visitors that come are customers. Keywords should be used naturally as overuse is uncomfortable to read and causes problems with the search engines spiders.

Try and encourage your visitor to stay on your site and motivate them to an action!

  • Links

Try to include links in the content of each article. These can be links within your own website or to external web sites. Also make sure that you check for broken links on the website on a regular basis.

Other links that can be included are:

1. Directories – Add your website to directories, these maybe free or chargeable.

2. Blogs/Forums – Adding a blog or forum or news articles to your website can helop increase the traffic and the updated information is what Google is looking for.

3. Writing articles – Google and other search engine are continually looking for new content.

  • Description and Title Tags and Headings
Meta tags need to include your keywords. Ensure these are written in the correct format and that they give a correct description of each web page.

Try and include keywords in your headings so that these are picked up by the search engines.

Title tags should be optimised to include at least one of the main keywords for your page. This text will be included when your page is listed by a search engine. It should not be too long as Google only displays a little over 60 characters. Make sure the keyword is used if possible at the beginning of the title text.

Use an expert SEO technician to ensure SEO is carried out correctly and to avoid any penalising or blacklisting by search engines.
